The Wizard of Oz and the Magic Bullet

Every day I hear doctors say they are looking for the magic bullet; the perfect scripts that will convert all of their new patients to lifetime patients.

Although there is nothing other than a Smith and Wesson that will convert all of your new patients into lifetime patients, there is definitely a magic bullet which will radically increase your conversion rate, patient compliance, retention, referrals and overall joy and happiness.

What is this magic bullet? Well, we have to go ask the Wizard of Oz!

If you will remember, in the Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow was looking for a brain, the Tin Man was looking for a heart, the Lion was looking for courage, and of course, Dorothy just wanted to get back home to Kansas.

After looking high and low for their magic bullets, they decided to go to the source; they went to see the all mighty and all powerful Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, much to their dismay, they found that the Wizard of Oz was a phony and a fake.

The Wizard then had to come clean and let them know that all he could do for people was to help them find what was already inside of them, what they already had. All he had to do for the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Lion was to ACKNOWLEDGE each of them. He did so by giving them each a medal.

And what did Glenda the good witch of the north have to offer our beloved Dorothy? She, of course, told Dorothy that she could have gone home any time she wanted. The magic was inside her all the time. All Glenda did was guide Dorothy to the answer, but Glenda was sure to let Dorothy know that the power was inside Dorothy all along.

There is absolutely a magic bullet out there for you that will increase your conversion rate, patient compliance, retention, referrals and overall joy and happiness! The only twist is that it is not out there, it is inside of you, and has been all along. It is my job to help you find it!

Take the time to examine each and every interaction you have with your patients. Discover who you are and who you are not; get congruent with what you do, and do not offer; and learn to communicate what you have discovered with your staff and patients.

During the L.A.A.S.R. Course and with the subsequent coaching, this is what we are doing. We are following the yellow brick road; we are going to see the all mighty, all powerful Wizard of Oz. We are discovering our truths, our perfect scripts and learning how to communicate them to others. We are finally finding our magic bullets.
