From my perspective the first and foremost task at hand is to make sure that you are crystal clear about who you are and what you do as a chiropractor. As many of you know this can take some time to figure out and is a life long process that continually grows and evolves.
Once you know who you are and what you offer your patients, the next major undertaking is to learn to communicate what we know and believe to our patients.
For those of you have taken my course commit L.A.A.S.R. to memory and employ it every chance you get. Role play with your staff, learn to deal with the difficult questions, statements and patients so they can no longer “catch you off guard” or “flat footed,” be prepared. Remember if you are “reacting” you will find yourself in the “knee jerk reaction” of inequality. You will come from the victim or the aggressor more often than not. But if you prepare and “respond” you come from choice. Choose to come from L.A.A.S.R.
Review the notes from the class. Role play the seven possibilities when greeting a new patient, review your scripts and make sure you have integrated your “ah ha’s” into them. Weave your “story” into each and every interaction from the moment you meet your patient during your consultation/examination, ROF, daily interactions etc.
Love your patients and they will love you. Enjoy your patients, and your job will become a joy. Treat them how you want to be treated, with honor and integrity. Take the high road and always come from your highest self. Empower your patients; in the long run love, choices and patient “care tactics” wins out over fear, manipulation and control every time.
With warm aloha’s,
